A Systematic Approach

Overview Many hospitals these days provide community classes and programs on a variety of health and wellness topics. Your employer, Amherst Regional Hospital, is no exception. When the regular presenter for one of Amherst’s most popular community programs, “Weight-Loss Winners,” is suddenly called out of town, it takes a team effort to pitch in and help fill her role. You agree to provide lesson plan notes for the substitute presenter, who is scheduled to talk to Weight-Loss Winners participants about body systems and obesity’s effects on some of them. Directions One of your colleagues, Amy, is temporarily filling in for the instructor who usually leads classes for the hospital’s Weight-Loss Winners outreach and education program. Amy is a whiz when it comes to health and weight-loss topics but does not feel confident when it comes to discussing anatomy and physiology specifics, and at the next meeting of the group, she is supposed to introduce body systems and provide examples of how obesity affects those systems. Amy asks if you can help her by creating lesson plan notes that she can review in advance of the class and refer to during the class if necessary. Part I. Amy first needs to understand the components and function of the following body systems: Integumentary Skeletal Muscular Nervous Endocrine Cardiovascular (focus on the parts of the Circulatory system and their differences) Immune (Lymphatic) Respiratory Digestive Urinary Reproductive For each system, name the main components and provide a clear and concise description of the system’s function. Part II. As part of her presentation, Amy wants to be sure that she can explain how the various body systems work together, as well as how obesity can impact the function of certain systems. Include the following information in the second part of the document: Provide two examples of body systems that work together to perform a function. For each example, describe how the body systems work together. For each example, explain how the interaction of the body systems is influenced by the position of the body systems and their shape. Explain what complementarity in the body is. Explain how obesity negatively impacts complementarity in the cardiovascular system and the skeletal system. Be sure to use your own words as you create these lesson plan notes and provide a reference list for sources you use. Lesson Plan Notes for Amy “maximum 1000 words” Suggested Word Count: 800 Accepted File Types: .doc, .docx, Any sources of information are cited using APA format, with no major errors Criteria Accurately names the main components of each body system Accurately describes the function of each system within the body Provides two examples of body systems that work together to perform a function and explains how those systems work together Accurately explains how the interaction of the body systems is influenced by the position of the body systems and their shape Accurately explains what complementarity is Correctly explains how obesity negatively impacts complementarity in the cardiovascular system and skeletal system Writing is clear, with no major errors
