Depending on their particular circumstances, some practitioners choose to offer single topic programs at the same time or in a staggered fashion. Other practitioners prefer to integrate various health themes into a single program. Since company budgets are currently tight, there is a need to increase productivity demands and heighten expectations to do more with less. In fact, more worksite health promotion practitioners are moving toward more integrated programs. For this week’s assignment, reflect on your program philosophy. How would you take your theory and integrate this into an actual program that includes exercise and physical fitness, nutrition, weight control, and injury prevention? Think outside the box with your program design by utilizing visual aids and a minimum of three outside sources within your narrative. One of the major challenges for any worksite health professional is the development and launching of a wellness program within a corporation. One major component that most of these programs share is a worksite health professional, who is committed to identifying needs, coordinating responsibilities, and applying appropriate resources towards achieving reasonable, well-defined goals. Your textbook (Chenoweth, 2011) has a checklist that includes a dozen features typically found in the successful worksite health promotion programs. Program planners may wish to copy and use a checklist to determine how well the program meets the criteria. Developing a program that includes all of these features requires careful planning before implementing the program, as well as regular maintenance, once the program is underway. Plans to launch a successful worksite health promotion program must include the development of a marketing strategy to make the program appealing to employees, preparing employees to take action, creating health fairs, and conducting employee health screenings. Be sure to review this week’s resources carefully. You are expected to apply the information from these resources when you prepare your assignments. Assignment Preparation 1.
